Hey Y’all,
As some of you may know, I recently went on my second cycling adventure with a group of fully vaccinated friends. Some I knew, and others I came to know over four days and 200+ miles of riding. This was a ‘self-supported’ ride, so everything had to go on our bikes for the four days.
We all drove to the Cardinal Greenway Trail head in Richmond, Indiana, and proceeded to ride about 50 miles a day over four days on what is Indiana’s longest, ‘rails to trails’ paved bike path. Thursday, we rode from Richmond, IN to Muncie, IN. Then Friday we rode from Muncie to Marion, IN (home of Garfield creator, Jim Davis and birth and burial place of James Dean).
Then Saturday we rode back to Muncie, and Sunday we rode the last 50 or so miles back to Richmond where we all picked up our cars, said our goodbye’s, and went our separate ways.
The weather was dicey (cold, windy, and wet), and some of the road conditions were difficult. About 30 miles or so there was no path, which forced us onto back roads which weren’t too well maintained. It also snowed on us Wednesday when we all arrived in Richmond, and the temps never did get above 50 degrees. Overall, it was a great time, and as my good riding friend Joe always likes to say, “What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger”.
Indeed! Enclosed are a few photos of me visiting one of the 13 Garfield statues in Marion, and a couple others of James Dean’s birthplace, and final resting place .

Awesome!
